Green stuff
This post on green stuff is about my various energy saving and environmental projects that may interest fellow greenies.
Introduction to my green stuff
My website was started as a way of sharing my ideas on DIY ultralight outdoor gear. I consider that it is OK to include my ‘green stuff’ in a series of posts that are about the technologies that I use to help to reduce my contribution to greenhouse effects. I am guessing that most people who have come to enjoy the outdoors also have developed a deep respect for our fragile environment. At the same time, I expect most of you would like to use fewer resources and use your savings for other things. My posts include:

A solar kettle for free boiling water
A simple and cheap DIY device that uses the sun to make and store boiling water for household use. DIY solar kettle
Off-grid free solar hot water
This post describes how well my oversized solar hot water service performs, in a cool climate, with electric heating element disconnected. It also reveals the invisible heat losses and electricity wastage that can occur in such ‘swish looking’ hot water storage system. “Luckily the loss in my case cost nothing as the sun does not charge anything for its energy”. solar hot water
Performance of a large domestic solar power system
This post describes the performance over many years of operation of a large domestic grid-connected solar power system. solar power system
Plain Tree leaves as garden mulch
I describe how I successfully use Plain Tree leaves as a persistent mulch for my vegetable garden. plain tree mulch
Trees I have planted
This post is about the trees that I and others have planted. Maybe they are not all ‘environmentally green’ because they are not natives of my soil. But to me, they seem to make the world a better place. From little acorns big trees grow
