DIY spatula
This homemade DIY spatula can be cut from plastic containers such as 2 L sauce bottles. The size and shape can be customised to the particular use.
Both the DIY spatula in the photo below were made to ‘sweep’ flour within a large collection bowl that I place under the rather messy outlet of my frequently used flour mill. The smaller one worked well enough, but I soon made a larger one that could be parked in the collection bowl and easily stop a little spray of flour from the mill wheels spilling from the collection bowl. No commercial spatula can quite do such a good job, and this one cost nothing.
After cutting the spatula out with scissors I flame the edges with a propane torch or cigarette lighter to make them round and smooth.
