Fiddle-Free Stove can achieve a rolling boil in approximately 4 min.

The Fiddle-free- ultralight blower stove has a rigid burner bowl that fits in its cooking pot and is quick to set up for ‘leave no trace’ use on sand, rough surfaces and rocks in the snow. This is a stainless steel one-pot stove that can quickly heat other large pots.

A litre of water at a powerful rolling boil on the Simple Fiddle Free Stove. So it is not strictly a one-pot stove as it is just like most backpacking stoves that can heat various pots ‘one at a time’. It can boil 500ml of water in ~4 min (about half the speed of a Jet boil) but there is no fuel to carry.” This ‘fiddle-free stove’ design came about when a friend said that my role-up C-ring ultralight blower stove was ‘too fiddly’. “Thanks, Wendy for the inspiration for this design.”
Fire-ravaged snow gum sticks make a wonderful and abundant fuel for alpine cooking.

The pot has a rebate around the bottom edge that fits neatly in the burner ring-opening and makes the pot very stable as well as forming a smoke/flame-free fit with the burner. The cooking pot has a slightly larger diameter than the stove body and has a small rebate formed around the bottom so that it fits snuggly in and on the burner when cooking. This means that the pot can contain the stove and associated parts when it’s time to pack up for backpacking.

Fiddle-Free ultralight blower stove is versatile for backpacking, base camping, car camping and picnics. It is very suited to ‘leave no trace’ cooking when it is set up on rocks, hard ground or sand. Also, it can be used in the snow if there are exposed rocks to set the stove upon as it does not need an ash/soil seal around the base as the rollup stoves do. If the fiddle-free stove is shared with a group of people the extra weight per person is negligible. “It will provide unlimited boiling water and cooking for a sizable group of walkers or skiers.” Fiddle-Free ultralight blower stove is good for cooking with other large pots, pans such as Trangia pots or frying pans and kitchen saucepans.
